The Hidden Waiting List, published in December 2004, is an investigation into hidden waiting times for diagnostic procedures in the NHS. Hidden Waits 2 was published in May 2005, and updates the previous report. It concludes little progress has been made, and reveals NHS scanners being mothballed to make way for private sector contracts, paid for by the NHS. The Alliance Medical Dossier was published to coincide with Hidden Waits 2. It contains a summary of documents obtained under the Freedom of Information Act, and exposes serious problems with the Government's contract with the private sector to provide MRI scans.

In 2001 Paul Burstow published a report examining the evidence for the inappropriate use of medication in care homes. The report found grounds for serious concern and made seven recommendations for action. Keep Taking the Medicine 2 was published in 2003 and updates the original report. It concludes that the problem remains largely unaddressed by the Government. Keep Taking the Medicine 3 was published in January 2005 and examines the Government's implementation of the standards for medication review of older people, set out in the National Service Framework for Older People. It highlights a lack of progress and lives are still at risk.
