Every Cloud has a silver lining - Burstow welcomes news that Sutton will not be subject to water restrictions

Paul Burstow, MP for Sutton and Cheam, has welcomed the news that Sutton is unlikely to be subject to water restrictions this summer, but has encouraged local people to take care when using water.
Mr Burstow was responding to news from Sutton and East Surrey Water that despite erratic weather conditions so far this year - and the hottest April on record - underground water resources are at a good level. A statement from Sutton and East Surrey states that restrictions are unlikely after above average rainfall in 8 of the last 12 months.
Commenting on the news, Paul Burstow MP said:
"It seems every cloud has a silver lining - above average rainfall in recent months will hopefully mean a summer without water restrictions."
"I'm sure local residents will be happy to avoid a repeat of last year's hosepipe ban, but sensible water use remains important."
"Simple steps, such as reusing water from washing up to water the plants or taking showers instead of baths, reduce water usage and help to avoid more strict controls."
