Paul Burstow, MP for Sutton and Cheam, has said he is "delighted by the progress" at Robin Hood Lane Clinic, which is in the process of being rebuilt. Building work at the clinic is expected to be finished in the autumn.

Mr Burstow visited both the building site in Robin Hood Lane and the temporary premises in Collingwood Recreation ground being used by the clinic last week to check on the progress and to meet with Dr Seyan. After meeting with the GPs, Mr Burstow wrote to Health Minister Andy Burnham after learning of their desire to use environmentally friendly energy sources at the new clinic.

Mr Burstow wrote to Mr Burnham and to Science Minister Malcolm Wicks to enquire about funding sources to assist the clinic in their efforts to use environmentally friendly techniques.

Commenting after the visit, Paul Burstow MP said:

"I was delighted to see such progress at Robin Hood Lane - I'm sure that once the new buildings are finished they will be a real asset to the community, helping to provide local healthcare fit for the 21st Century."

"It would be good if the new clinic could use environmentally friendly energy sources like solar panels - I have asked the Health Minister what steps his department can take to assist them in such an excellent initiative."
