Top marks for Westbourne Primary School - Burstow

4.55.30pm GMT Fri 20th Oct 2006

Paul Burstow, MP for Sutton and Cheam, has congratulated staff and students at Westbourne Primary School on a fantastic OFSTED inspection result.

Westbourne's success came after a recent spot inspection from the Office of Standards in Education (OFSTED), the government body which inspects schools and educational establishments across the country. OFSTED confirmed today that Westbourne had been given a Grade 1 rating, the highest possible.

Mr Burstow, who is a governor at Westbourne, visited the school recently as part of his regular programme of school visits around the constituency. He was delighted to be able to congratulate Headmaster Matthew Hiley and his team on their excellent OFSTED grade.

Commenting on the news, Paul Burstow MP said:

"Mr Hiley and his staff do a great job, and the children work hard - it is great to see them receive this recognition. As one of the school's governors, I am particularly delighted to see Westbourne perform so well"
