Older people deserve utmost respect and dignity - Burstow12.00.00am GMT Mon 27th Mar 2006 Sutton and Cheam MP Paul Burstow will appear tonight on Tony Robinson's programme Me and My Mum on Channel 4 as part of his campaign to get his backbencher's Bill on care and human rights of older people through Parliament. Coinciding with publication of a damning report about the care of older people by three public service watchdogs Paul Burstow MP commented: "The damning report published today shows health and care services are letting down older people at a time in their lives when they are at their most vulnerable. "Older people deserve to be treated with the utmost respect and dignity in care. That is why I have been campaigning to ensure that care services protect the human rights of people in later life, reverse the widespread malnutrition amongst older people in care, as well as giving local services the help they need to tackle elder abuse head-on." ENDS.
